Plasma Cutting.
ooo yeah, it's hAWT.
As a single parent it can be a struggle to feed your newborn welding Machines. After making the skid plate for my KLR650 the answer seemed to be in plasma cutting. I bought a cheap plasma cutter unit a while back with the intention of making a CNC plasma cutter but lost motivation in the project and never finished it. Fast forward to now, I have projects piled up and no way to ever get them done with my laziness. Enter plasma cutting! oooooo ahhhh! Similar to how the CNC-Inator works, the CNC plasma runs on grbl. It's more of a project in the works right now. It's needing some love and attention but more importantly it needs sheet metal. I think I'll change the drive system in the future out for a rack and pinion. The 4'x4' workspace doesn't seem to help my tiny little 15mm drive belts any!
Some of my first cuts with the CNC Plasma Cutter. You can see some flaws like the stripe down through the lettering and out of the back window of the car. I'm not sure as of yet where the error came from. Seemed to be a communication issue between UGS and a previous version of GRBL. Crazy stuff happens when trying to integrate everything together and get them all talking.
I played around with the idea in CAD for a bit. Felt a bit restless and needed to cut some junk on my new toy to be. Pieced this frame together and started printing the bearing Housing for the X and Y Axis rails.
Welded the frame together. But later after a couple of cuts I realized that I could have designed it with fewer ribs.
